The story...
The last piece in this collection - Bare Feet Beats - portrays the feeling of vacation, freedom and memories I’ve made during summer in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Letting go and letting in
It shows a first step in the direction of letting go the architectural legenda rules, to make space for intuitive strokes of my dancing hands. This painting captures the break of my artist in residence period in the north east of Brazil, a period of joy, safety and connection. Filled with friendship, bare feet Forro at the beach and bright tropical waters.
From intention to attention
Whether you have a clear planning or you go with the flow. When you end up in a place that just does not feel right, pause, breath, connect with a dear friend and the redirecting answer will come. I want this painting to be a reminder of that.
The creative process...
Modern Jazz and Forro all made it’s way into this piece. I was literally dancing on paper with fluent movements. Pausing in between, to listen to the music, remembering the sand between my toes, to feel what to do next. The experience and result couldn’t be more true to how I feel about celebrating life in the here and the now.
